چکیده
2 TABLE-BASED NUMERICAL In this paper, we present a table-based numerical macromodeling method in which a MEMS device is modeled by a set of numerical ordinary differential equations and model functions are represented by look-up tables of numerical data. Cubic spline interpolation is used to evaluate model functions during simulation. Numerical linear models are also constructed for DC analysis, AC analysis and feedback system design. This method is demonstrated by modeling and simulating a MEMS accelerometer.

Issues in MEMS Macromodeling
AHDL modeling of MEMS components for system simulation is slowly maturing, however many issues remain regarding interoperability and composability. A discussion of MEMS natures, hierarchy and model partitioning helps to introduce the issues. Specific conventions for interoperability include choice of component reference frame and associated reference directions. A composite discipline extension...
متن کاملFinite Element Solutions of Cantilever and Fixed Actuator Beams Using Augmented Lagrangian Methods
In this paper we develop a numerical procedure using finite element and augmented Lagrangian meth-ods that simulates electro-mechanical pull-in states of both cantilever and fixed beams in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) switches. We devise the augmented Lagrangian methods for the well-known Euler-Bernoulli beam equation which also takes into consideration of the fringing effect of electr...
متن کاملParametric Macromodeling using Interpolation of Sylvester based State-space Realizations
A novel state-space realization for parametric macromodeling is proposed in this paper. A judicious choice of the state-space realization is required to account for the generally assumed smoothness of the state-space matrices with respect to the design parameters. This is used in combination with suitable interpolation schemes to interpolate a set of state-space matrices, and hence the poles an...
متن کاملParametric macromodeling for S-parameter data based on internal nonexpansivity
We propose a novel parametric macromodeling method for systems described by scattering parameters, which depend on multiple design variables such as geometrical layout or substrate features. The new concept of internal nonexpansivity for bounded real systems is introduced. It is used in combination with suitable interpolation schemes to interpolate a set of state-space matrices, and hence poles...
متن کاملParametric macromodeling based on amplitude and frequency scaled systems with guaranteed passivity
We propose a novel parametric macromodeling method for systems described by scattering parameters, which depend on multiple design variables such as geometrical layout or substrate features. It is able to build accurate multivariate macromodels that are stable and passive over the entire design space. Poles and residues are parameterized indirectly. The proposed method is based on an efficient ...
